foot tattoos
katemonster asked:

I got a tattoo on the side of my right foot two weeks ago, and although it looks fantastic, it hasn’t begun to scab or peel at all. Should I be worried? I’ve been taking great care of it, no shoes or socks, kept it moisturized, ect, but everything I’ve read about tats mentions scabbing and peeling after about three or four days. Is this normal for foot tattoos?

means you found a very good tattoo artist! :kudos to you:

although some tattoos scab, this means the artist has a very heavy hand and the needles are being pressed deaper in the epidermis that is require. scabbing usually = scarring. if you are taking proper care of your tattoo and are keeping in moisturized as recommended, right now from what you describe, the skin should feel like you had a sun burn. this will go away, and with time you should peel.

My friend got one on her foot and she had something similar happen. Just keep moisturizing and keeping good care of it. It might not peel.

Foot tattoos can take an extra two weeks or so to heal. So, maybe three to four total. They rarely ever heal as fast as a normal tattoo. Keep doing what you’re doing… :) It’ll happen. No shoes or socks until the scabbing or peeling is gone.

foot tattoos take longer to heal than others do but it should have started peeling by now. i think both of my foot tattoos started peeling around day 10. are you washing it every day with your fingertips and antibacterial soap? you should be washing it 3-4 times a day and patting it dry with a clean towel and keeping it moisturized.
    good luck!!
