Famous Tattoos: What Celebrities Wear As Body Art
Want to know the most famous tattoos and what is in style these days? This fun and informative article will explore the world of celebrity body art and why they choose a particular design. It is not recommended to run out and get a certain tattoo just because your favorite star is wearing it. A tattoo is a personal decision and the design you get should have special meaning to you.
Tattoos at one point in time were used to identify slaves or status in a community. Some tribal art was meant strictly for a chief or other important member of a tribe such as a medicine man or priest. These days famous tattoos take on a whole new meaning.
Britney Spears
This famous singer has quite a few tattoos. She has Kabbala symbols on the back of her neck which were meant to convey healing, though some reports claim that these symbols are not in order and so have no meaning. She has a fairy on her lower back, which is becoming quite popular, a tiny daisy that circles her second toe on her right foot, butterfly taking flight off a vine on her left foot, and a Chinese symbol for mystery inside a flower on her lower stomach.
Moving on, Britney has a pair of pink dice inside the left wrist, a small star on her right hand, she also sports red and pink lips on her wrist and a black and white cross on her lower hip. A daisy is symbolic of childhood innocence and also translates into perennial beauty.
Keith Urban
This Australian country music singer has some famous tattoos, one being tribal of a totem bird on his left forearm. When dating supermodel Nikki Taylor, they had matching tattoos with the words Amor Vincit Omnia, meaning love conquers all. He has since altered this tattoo to honor his now wife Nicole Kidman.
Johnny Depp
Depp was quoted as saying: My body is a journal in a way. It’s like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist. He has 14 known tattoos, including his mothers name over his heart along with his first born child Lily-Rose. One of his famous tattoos is that of a head of a Cherokee Indian chief which represents his ancestral heritage. One last final celebrity:
David Beckham
He said that his tattoo represent the people in his life, mainly his wife and sons who he cherishes and wants with him always. He said if you see him you see the tattoos and the expression of how he feels about his wife Victoria and his boys.
He also has a crucifix on the back of his neck, a guardian angel between his shoulder blades to overlook the names of his children and one of his famous tattoos is that of Jesus which was placed on his torso and was taken from the painting The Man Of Sorrows By Matthew R. Brooks.
Every tattoo has a special meaning for those who wear them, and should be the basis for getting a tattoo.
