  6. Bobbi Says:

It’s just Straight up retarded. Even for christians that’s retarded, you shouldn’t have tattoos.

  7. Jewell D. Says:

The “Cross” symbol has been around long before Christianity was even established. Heck, it was even meant for prisoners because they were crucified. Christians hence chose the symbol because of the crucifix and Jesus, yada yada.

It’s a symbol free for anyone to use, so no I wouldn’t think of it hypocritical. I mean, people get those Chinese characters/symbols on them and more than half of the time none of those people know the Chinese reads nor practice Buddhism or any Chinese religions right? I see it as pretty much the same situation.

Technically the cross was a pagan symbol before it became a Christian symbol. I have no problem with a non Christian getting a cross tattoo.

  9. Katie Says:

    Um.. YES it’s hypocritical.

  10. Merci Says:

Jesus was not the first person to be crucified on a cross, and crosses are/were not always used in a christian context, so therefore it is not stupid or hypocritical.

A cross can mean many things like a certain heritage (though some crosses may have been designed because of christianity, that does not mean the wearer has to be christian, just that they are proud of their heritage, such as the celts). Other crosses mean gang affiliation or social standing (yes most coming from Christian roots, though still not used as a Christian symbol). Another example is scientific uses, like in astrology (or more commonly in math, the multiplication sign).

Or, people just think it’s a pretty design. I think that it’s perfectly fine for people to wear crosses for that reason as well. Even jews do it.

I’m an atheist personally and i would NEVER wear a cross or get a cross tattooed on me. Firstly it symbolises something i don’t believe in and secondly i think its disrespectful to those who do believe in it.

Why someone would want to get something that means nothing to them tattooed on them which will last forever is beyond me.

  12. Nick Nack Says:

1.It is not just a symbol for jesus.
2.People can put whatever the **** they want on their body.

  13. tashaocmd2 Says:

    The cross predates Christianity.

Do you mean non-Christians getting a Latin Cross? Why do they put it on if they don’t believe? I have no idea. I don’t ask every person with a cross tattoo, “Are you a Christian and do you believe.”

You can flip it around and ask why don’t all followers of Christ wear a cross?

That reminds me, some comedian once said you wouldn’t walk you walk up to Jackie Kennedy while wearing a rifle pendant…
