Why are Tattoo questions not in the Art section of this forum?

pdust@sbcglobal.net asked:

As an artist who tattoos, I see this as art not cosmetology. Cosmetic tattooing is also different from tattoo ART. I come from a fine arts background as well as many, many other tattoo artists. The fact that the label we are given includes the word ‘artist’ should provide a clue.
In no way am I downgrading cosmetologists, so please don’t assume that I am.

This is my opinion. Tattoos are like cups. Some are very carefully decorated by an artist. Unfortunately, these days there are far more being done with the quality of Surpee cups.

True artist are rare, don’t you agree?
